What is EXOGEN Wearable Resistance?

What is Exogen?

Exogen Wearable Resistance is an organic, movement-friendly form of resistance that you apply directly to the body via the garment clothing. The suit with loads allows for specific, adjustable, progressive and individual training needs to be met – in sports & fitness activities.

What is FUSIFORM MICRO LOADS?

Our patented FUSIFORM MICROLOADS© [light weights that are applied to the EXOGEN garment] are the star feature of EXOGEN® wearable resistance. Their patented and organic design is modelled following muscle architecture with a belly and insertion feature. This innovation allows loading to be both dispersed and comfortable but still very targeted at the same time. They can be individually adjusted to fit anywhere on the EXOGEN garment as you need. This allows you to bend, flex & utilise any additional sport equipment with little restriction and will not bounce or cause discomfort during training. Being only ~5 mm thick and allowing complete body hugging flexibility our FUSIFORM MICROLOADS© feel like part of your body. Something we call INTERNAL MECHANICAL LOADING©.

The load position (where on the body the load is placed) creates very different and unique feelings, experience and outcomes. Moving the load position can greatly change your movement feeling and experience. This is the most unique and important feature of EXOGEN®.
The following are our six primary load positions which will greatly influence your movement experience and training outcome.

In your first 1-2 weeks EXOGEN® training we suggest you try them all.
1. Proximal VS Distal
2. Internal VS External
3. Anterior VS Posterior

– Rear hook attachment
– Load weight in grams (printed at the back)

Our patented fusiform micro loads come in multiple sizes:
50g / 2 ounce

Are there any safety guidelines for using EXOGEN?

Yes and these are clearly outlined in our user guide which we recommend you read before starting. While we have taken every measure to create a safe product you must keep in mind light resistance training is still resistance training.

Lifting a light load at faster speeds can be just as strenuous as lifting a heavy load at slower speeds. Follow all standard guidelines for safe exercise and resistance training in your environment.

Who can use Exogen?

Anyone can benefit from exercising and training with wearable resistance. There really are no limitations so long as you are medically fit and follow all safety guidelines outlined in our user guide, which you can download from HERE

How much weight comes with Exogen?

It varies based on your size and product.

The full-body suit should not go more than 10% of the bodyweight. Anything more than 10% would disrupt the speed and technique for movement specific training, and when loaded way too heavy, there’s a risk for injury.

⚫️Meant for performing specific movements on your body for your sport/training [ex. A serve in tennis]

Should I stop using other traditional resistance equipment if i use EXOGEN?

Not at all, no single product provides everything. In fact, EXOGEN® is the perfect partner for many current exercise trends. We highly recommend trying EXOGEN® during your next suspension or bodyweight workout.

Can wearable resistance be worn in competition or is it only for training?

EXOGEN® is designed to be worn both in training and in your real competition or activity environment.

For example, you can use EXOGEN® for speed work on the track but also during an actual full team run on the field. Some of our research is already pointing to the benefits of EXOGEN® during actual competition but we are still investigating these benefits and will update you on this soon.

You should double-check with your relevant National / International governing body. If you do use loaded EXOGEN® in competitive situations be sure to follow all safety guidelines for your sport and let your competition know you are loaded.

Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide where it will benefit you most while using good judgment.

If you use EXOGEN® in a contact situation with other athletes be sure to inform them beforehand that you are wearing wearable resistance with the extra load. Nobody wants to be hit with extra loads unexpectedly as this may cause injury. Please check with your coach before using EXOGEN® in contact situations.

Is this just for middle and long distance running only? How can it help sprinters?

Exogen is just weight training, but it’s the most specific form of resistance in the world hands down.

So it helps In three direct ways:

1. We can apply resistance to strengthen the muscles of sprinting WHILE sprinting on the track with out any disruption to technique.

2. It provides the most specific stimulus for high speed sprint endurance.

3. Because we can literally load anywhere in micro doses, (as little as 50 grams) we can effectively improve sprint mechanics which makes it the first resistance tool that is also a coaching tool to tweak and improve: posture, rotations, in-air mechanics (front and backside), stride length issues and more.

Can I build build strength and power while running with EXOGEN?

When weights are loaded on the calf and thigh, EXOGEN Wearable Resistance increases the mechanical work of the entire leg and hip WHILE running – meaning you’ll build strength and power for running.

But did you know that you could also improve specific running technique/problems depending on WHERE you position the load on the calf, thigh AND top?

Can EXOGEN be used in water?

EXOGEN® is designed and fully compatible for water use and with precaution is safe for water-based sports and activities.

During all water-based activities there is an inherent risk of injury or death due to drowning. This includes swimming, surfing, diving, paddling, kayaking, water-skiing, wake/knee boarding, sailing, jet-skiing, or similar.

Therefore,
a. With LOADED EXOGEN® you are adding weight to your body and this will reduce your buoyancy in any water environment.

b. We recommend you do not use LOADED EXOGEN® in a water environment such as a pool, lake, river, ocean or other if you are;

  • Not a competent swimmer
  • Not wearing approved life preserving, safety flotation devices as required for your age, level or activity
  • Alone with no qualified supervision immediately nearby

How do I take my measurement?

The design is unisex with sizes ranging from XXS to XXXL. EXOGEN garment piece is designed to fit snugly onto your body thus your size is dependent on your body measurements. When you place an order, we may ask you several questions about your: Size, Height, Weight, Gender.

How do I care for my EXOGEN?

EXOGEN® is a high-quality training product. It has been designed to be durable so long as you follow these handling & care guidelines.

WASHING
• After each training give your EXOGEN® a light cold water rinse and squeeze dry
• Leave it inside-out and hang it to dry overnight in an airy place, not under direct sun
• Give it a cold water machine wash once per month or when you feel it needed
• Cold water rinse the loads on your roll-up 1x week and let them air dry overnight
• Do not tumble or machine dry
• Do not wash in warm or hot water

TRANSPORTING & STORAGE
• Hang or properly fold your EXOGEN® pieces when not in use
• Do not leave the loads on your EXOGEN® pieces after training this will wear the EXOGEN® outer attachment layer. Always store the loads on the roll-up after use
• Do not store or leave your loads bunched or rolled up. Lay them flat on the roll-up in between training sessions
• Your roll-up is designed to make transport and travel with EXOGEN® easy and efficient

Does EXOGEN have compression?

All of LILA’s Exogen garment pieces meet international standards for compression recovery. This provides light-to-mild contraction during unloaded training. The bonus feature of training fully loaded and transitioning immediately into recovery with our compression-based Exogen.

Will wearing the EXOGEN suit effect blood flow as it is quite tight fitting?

It should be ok for everyone so long as they are cleared medically cleared for exercise by their physician and wear a comfortable size that is not too tightly fitting.

EXOGEN® is designed for a specific fit ensuring adequate compression, anti-slip, and comfort especially when loaded. Wearable Resistance compression wear takes getting used to especially when putting on and taking off. The material will naturally stretch over time.

Can you use wearable resistance if you have high blood pressure?

Exogen and compression clothing in general is not contraindicated with high blood pressure.

However, before starting any exercise program, or one using compression equipment and weights, such as EXOGEN®, you should be cleared by your medical Doctor. He or she will have a much better understanding of your personal circumstances and give you specific advice.

Can you use wearable resistance if you are diabetic?

There is no contraindication for using wearable resistance if you are diabetic.

However, if you are diabetic you should see your doctor before starting any exercise program. Specifically, your physician should give you medical clearance for using the EXOGEN® compression suit.

Can you use EXOGEN if you have a heart pacemaker?

Compression clothing is not normally contraindicated if you have a heart condition.

However, if you do have a heart condition and/or a pacemaker you should get medically cleared for exercise and specifically using compression garments with load by your physician before starting any program.

It should be ok but talk to your doctor first.
